Les Savy Fav is a New York band formed in 1995 under the influences of art rock and post-hardcore, initially featuring Tim Harrington (vocals), Seth Jabber (guitar), Syd Butler (bass), Gibb Slife (guitar) and Patrick Mahoney (drums) as members. Later, guitarist Gibb Slife left the band and Harrison Haynes joined as drummer in Mahoney's place.

3/5, Les Savy Fav's first album, came out in 1997, on The Self-Starter Foundation label. The Cat and the Cobra, the second, was released in 1999 through Frenchkiss Records, bassist Syd Butler's label.

After Go Forth, a 2001 album, the band only returned with a new studio album in 2007, when they released Let's Stay Friends. This work was present on several lists of the best of the year.

In 2010, Les Savy Fav released Root for Ruin, their fifth album. After a long hiatus, the group returned with a new album in 2024 when they released Oui, LSF.
