After the release of Ágætis Byrjun, drummer Agust left the band, being replaced by Orri Pall Dyrason. In 2002, ( ), the third album was released. In addition to the strange name, this work features eight untitled songs. Takk..., fourth studio album, was released in 2005. In 2008, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust arrived.

His sixth studio album, Valtari, came out in May 2012. The following year, Sigur Rós released Kveikur.
