Born on July 26, 1974, American Samuel Beam released his indie folk works under the name Iron & Wine. The musician's music is based on artists such as Simon and Garfunkel, Nick Drake and Elliott Smith.
His debut album, The Creek Drank the Cradle, was released in 2002 by Sub Pop. This was followed by Our Endless Numbered Days (2004) and The Shepherd's Dog (2007).
Kiss Each Other Clean, Iron & Wine's fourth studio album, was released in January 2011 on the 4AD record label. In 2013 Ghost on Ghost came out. In 2015, he released an album of covers, titled Sing Into My Mouth, in partnership with Ben Bridwell (Band of Horses). Love Letter for Fire, an album of duets with singer Jesca Hoop, was released the following year.
In 2017, the artist released Beast Epic. In partnership with the band Calexico, Iron & Wine released Years to Burn in 2019. Light Verse (2024) features a vocal collaboration with Fiona Apple on the track "All in Good Time".
