The band Girls emerged in the second half of the 2000s in the indie rock scene of San Francisco, California. The duo formed by Christopher Owens (singer, songwriter) and JR White (bass, producer) released two critically acclaimed albums: Album (2009) and Father, Son, Holy Ghost (2011).
Surprisingly, Christopher Owens left the band in July 2012 to pursue a solo career. His first solo album, titled Lysandre, was released in December 2012 on the Fat Possum label. A New Testament, his second, was released in 2014 on the Turnstile Records label. The following year, he released Chrissybaby Forever. A long hiatus in his solo career ended with the release of I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair in 2024.
