American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens, born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 1, 1975, made his name on the indie scene with his music linked to the indie folk genre, although his works feature varied styles such as electronics, lo-fi and psychedelic.
Among his albums, Illinois, released in 2005, is one of the most remembered. Critically acclaimed, Illinois appeared on the Billboard 200, a list of the 200 best-selling albums and EPs in the United States, published weekly by Billboard magazine.
