Formed in 1989 in College Park, Maryland, Velocity Girl's music was centered around melodious noise-pop influenced by Britpop and shoegaze, which was called "bubblegrunge".
The American band, which took its name from a Primal Scream song, released three albums on Sub Pop in the 1990s — Copacetic (1993), ¡Simpatico! (1994) and Gilded Stars and Zealous Hearts (1996). Its lineup consisted of Archie Moore (guitar, bass and vocals), Brian Nelson (guitar), Kelly Young (guitar, bass) and Sarah Shannon (vocals).
Copacetic brought the singles "Crazy Town" and "Audrey's Eyes". ¡Simpatico!, their second album, was their most successful and featured the track "Sorry Again". After 1996's Gilded Stars and Zealous Hearts, Velocity Girl disbanded.
