Finding what I wasn't looking for, this sonic pearl from the 1990s falls into my ears, recording the meeting of the voices of two icons of bands that caused a stir in the 1980s, Morrissey (The Smiths) and Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and the Banshees).
“Interlude” is a re-recording of a 1968 song. The duet by Morrissey and Siouxsie Sioux was released in 1994 as a single, which featured two sung versions and one instrumental.
Last year, to mark the 30th anniversary of the cover, Morrissey re-released the single in a limited edition 12-inch, 180-gram format.
“Interlude”, the original
“Interlude” was written by Georges Delerue and Hal Shaper and performed by American soul singer Timi Yuro (1941-2004) and released in 1968. The song was also the title track of the film of the same name released the same year.
In 2004, when Timi Yuro passed away, Morrissey announced her death on his official website, revealing that she was his "favorite singer".
