Kasabian began to emerge on the British indie rock scene in the early 2000s. Formed in 1999 by Tom Meighan (vocals), Christopher Karloff (guitar, keyboards), Sergio Pizzorno (guitar, vocals) and Chris Edwards (bass), the band brought to their electronic rock elements that recalled the sounds of groups such as the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Primal Scream.
In 2004, drummer Ian Matthews joined the band and the group released their first album, Kasabian. "Processed Beats", "Reason Is Treason", "Club Foot" and "L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)" were the main tracks on this debut album.
During the recording of the second album, Empir, Christopher Karloff left the band, citing creative differences with the other members. Empir was released in 2006. Around the same time, guitarist Jay Mehler joined the group.
In June 2009, Kasabian released their third album. Titled West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, the album was produced by Dan the Automator. He also produced Velociraptor!, an album that arrived in September 2011.
In 2014, the band released 48:13. This was followed by For Crying Out Loud, released in 2017. In 2020, Tom Meighan announced his departure from the band due to personal issues. It was later revealed that the vocalist had pleaded guilty to domestic violence.
With Meighan's departure, Pizzorno became the lead vocalist and the band released The Alchemist's Euphoria (2022), followed by Happenings (2024).
