Formed in 2008 in Edinburgh by Alloysious Massaquoi (born in Liberia), Kayus Bankole (Scottish to Nigerian parents) and 'G' Hastings (Scottish), Young Fathers is a Scottish experimental hip hop group. In 2014, they won the Mercury Prize for their debut album, titled Dead. The following year, the band released White Men Are Black Men Too, which was also acclaimed by publications such as NME and The Guardian.
In 2016, the trio toured with Massive Attack. A new work, entitled Cocoa Sugar, arrived in 2018. Young Fathers returned in 2023 with Heavy Heavy, their fourth album.
