Flying Lotus is the pseudonym of American musician/producer Steven Ellison. Born in Los Angeles on October 7, 1983, he emerged on the independent music scene in the first decade of the 21st century as one of the most talked about names in experimental electronic music. Their first album, 1983, was released in 2006 on the Plug Research label.
In 2007, Flying Lotus signed to Warp Records, for which he released the albums Los Angeles (2008), Cosmogramma (2010), Until the Quiet Comes (2012) and You're Dead! (2014). Critically well received, You're Dead! featured collaborations by Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Herbie Hancock.
In 2019, he released Flamagra. In 2021 came Yasuke, the soundtrack to the Netflix anime series "Yasuke".
