Born on February 24, 1994 in Los Angeles, Earl Sweatshirt is an American rapper who emerged from the hip hop collective Odd Future at the end of the first decade of the 2000s. Odd Future revealed names like Tyler, The Creator (their leader) and Frank Ocean.
Earl Sweatshirt (his birth name is Thebe Neruda Kgositsile) released in 2010 a mixtape titled simply Earl. This work was acclaimed by websites specializing in pop music. Pitchfork called it "fascinating". After this release, the rapper was sent by his mother to a boarding school (a therapeutic school for at-risk youth) in Samoa.
In 2012, at the age of 18, Earl Sweatshirt returned to the United States and, in addition to collaborations with his Odd Future bandmates, continued to work on his solo career, including signing a deal with Columbia Records. In August 2013, the rapper released his first official album, the critically acclaimed Doris. I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside: An Album by Earl Sweatshirt, the second one, came out in 2015. In 2018, he released Some Rap Songs. A new studio album, titled Sick!, arrived in 2022.
