The English band Muse was formed by Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar), Chris Wolstenholme (bass) and Dominic Howard (drums) in 1997 in Teignmouth, Devon. Before, the trio existed under the name Rocket Baby Dolls. Their music mixes progressive rock, hard rock, glam, space rock and electronica.
Muse's first album, titled Showbiz, came out in 1999. Comparisons to Radiohead were inevitable. In addition to Matthew Bellamy's vocals too reminiscent of Thom Yorke's, Muse's music left no doubt about OK Computer's influence on the group's songs.
In 2001, the band released their second album, Origin of Symmetry. The album shows the group trying to escape the sound format of their countrymen, but keeping the same paranoid melancholy. In 2003, Muse released the album Absolution. Subsequently, the albums Black Holes and Revelations (2006) and The Resistance (2009) were released.
The 2nd Law, the band's sixth studio album, arrived in September 2012. A new album, titled Drones, was released in 2015. Three years later, the group released Simulation Theory. Will of the People, ninth album, was released in 2022.
