An American band formed in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles in 2008 by Ryan Hahn (guitar, vocals), Taylor Rice (guitar, vocals), Kelcey Ayer (keyboards, vocals), Matt Frazier (drums) and Andy Hamm (bass), Local Natives released their debut album, Gorilla Manor, in 2009 in the United Kingdom on the Infectious Records label and, in early 2010, in the United States on Frenchkiss Records.

Gorilla Manor received mostly positive reviews. The band's music finds similarities to works released by groups such as Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear and Band of Horses.

In 2011, Andy Hamm left the band, which released its second album, titled Hummingbird, in January 2013. The albums Sunlit Youth (2016) and Violet Street (2019) followed. John Congleton co-produced Time Will Wait for No One, a 2023 effort. Featuring tracks from the Time Will Wait for No One sessions, But I'll Wait for You was released in 2024.
