The American band Jane's Addiction from Los Angeles was formed in 1985, becoming one of the main names in American rock at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, with lead singer Perry Farrell as its main figure. Its classic lineup also included guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins.
The band's music, which mixes elements of metal, punk, jazz, psychedelic, funk and folk, has as its main recordings the albums 1988's Nothing's Shocking and 1990's Ritual de lo Habitual. Before these two, the group had released a self-titled live album in 1987.
Jane's Addiction broke up in 1991. On the farewell tour, Farrell created Lollapalooza, a traveling event with the participation of several bands. This event later became a large festival being held in several countries.
Despite the announced end, the band had its resurrections. Sporadic returns generated two more albums — Strays (2003) and The Great Escape Artist (2011).
