Bloc Party is an English band formed in 2003 by Kele Okereke (vocals – guitar), Russell Lissack (guitar), Gordon Moakes (bass – vocals) and Matt Tong (drums). Okereke and Lissack met through mutual friends at the Reading Festival in 1999.
In 2005, when it released its first album, Silent Alarm, Bloc Party was already a sensation of English indie rock, due to the success achieved by the singles "She's Hearing Voices", "Banquet", "Little Thoughts" and "Helicopter", released previously.
Following up on the critically acclaimed Silent Alarm, the band released the albums A Weekend in the City (2007) and Intimacy (2008). In 2010, Kele released his first solo album entitled The Boxer.
Bloc Party released their fourth album, Four, in 2012. Hymns left in 2016, when the group had in its lineup, in addition to original members Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack, bassist Justin Harris and drummer Louise Bartle. The band returned in 2022 with Alpha Games.
