Pixies starts a new tour on the 8th in Dublin with a new bassist. Emma Richardson, former bassist for the English band Band of Skulls, joins the American band after the departure of Paz Lenchantin.
In a statement, the band wrote about Lenchantin's departure:
Paz Lenchantin, who joined Pixies in 2014, has exited the band to concentrate on her own projects. We’re grateful for Paz’s many contributions, and wish her all the very best going forward. We are delighted to welcome Emma Richardson on bass. Emma will make her worldwide touring debut with Pixies on the first night of the Bossanova x Trompe le Monde European tour, beginning this Friday in Dublin.
Paz Lenchantin joined the Pixies lineup in 2014, replacing Kim Shattuck (1963 – 2019), Kim Deal's first replacement. Shattuck, who was leader of the band The Muffs, passed away in 2019.
Before Pixies, Lenchantin played with A Perfect Circle and Zwan. In addition to tours, his participation in the band was recorded on the albums Head Carrier (2016), Beneath the Eyrie (2018) and Doggerel (2022).
Born in Southampton in 1982, Emma Richardson remained in Band of Skulls from 2002, the beginning of its formation, until 2022.
