American singer and multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark was born on September 28, 1982 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but grew up in Dallas, Texas. She started playing guitar at the age of 12. In 2003, while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, she released an EP entitled Ratsliveonnoevilstar.
After leaving Berklee, Clark returned to his home in Dallas, where he joined the group The Polyphonic Spree. She left The Polyphonic Spree in 2006 and joined Sufjan Stevens. That same year, Annie Clark released another solo EP, Paris Is Burning, and started working on her first album, but under the name of St. Vincent.
Titled Marry Me, St. Vincent's first album came out in 2007 on Beggars Banquet Records. Well received by critics, the album brought great visibility to Annie Clark's peculiar indie pop, who played guitar, organ, bass, piano, among other instruments, in this debut work.
The singer released her second album, Actor, in 2009 on 4AD Records. Two years later Strange Mercy came out, who, like the first two, was also well received by critics. Her fourth album, St. Vincent, came out in February 2014. In 2017, the singer released Masseduction. Inspired by the New York City music scene of the first half of the 1970s, the singer released in 2021 Daddy's Home, her sixth studio album.
