Mew is a Danish alternative rock band formed in 1994 in the city of Hellerup by Jonas Bjerre (vocals), Bo Madsen (guitar), Johan Wohlert (bass) and Silas Utke Graae Jørgensen (drums), inspired by the work of groups such as Pixies, My Bloody Valentine and Dinosaur Jr..

Early in their career, the band released the albums A Triumph for Man (1997) and Half the World is Watching Me (2000), both well received by Danish critics. However, it was with Frengers, an album released in 2003 in several countries, that Mew gained popularity in the alternative music world.

After Frengers, the band released the albums And the Glass Handed Kites (2005) and No More Stories Are Told Today, I'm Sorry They Washed Away // No More Stories, The World Is Grey, I'm Tired, Let's Wash Away (2009)

In 2016, the band released an album titled +. Its successor, Visuals, came out in 2017.
