American Julien Rose Baker, born on September 29, 1995 in Memphis, Tennessee, began to integrate into the music scene with her college band, called Forrister. At the same time, she started writing her own songs.
In 2014, she released an EP on the Bandcamp website. Her debut album, Sprained Ankle, came out in 2015, drawing attention from sites specializing in pop music, such as Stereogum, Billboard and Pitchfork.
Her music has similarities with the work of artists like Bon Iver, Sharon Van Etten and Natalie Prass.
The singer released her second album, Turn Out the Lights, in 2017 on Matador Records. The third came in 2021. Titled Little Oblivions, on this album Baker moves away from acoustic folk by incorporating more instruments into his music.
