Bringing together a variety of styles, the American band, originally from San Francisco, The Dodos was naturally classified as indie folk.

Formed in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist Meric Long, initially called Dodobird, the band was renamed The Dodos with the addition of Logan Kroeber. In 2006 his debut album, Beware of the Maniacs, was released independently. In 2007, the duo signed with Frenchkiss Records and the following year the album Visiter was released.

Time to Die, The Dodos' third album was released in 2009. With vocal collaborations from Neko Case, the album No Color came out in 2011. Their fifth album, Carrier, was released in 2013. Two years later, Individ came out.

The band released their seventh album, titled Certainty Waves, in 2018. With a more acoustic sound, Grizzly Peak arrived in 2021.
