Isobel K. Campbell was born in Glasgow on April 27, 1976. She became known as a member of the band Belle & Sebastian, where she collaborated on vocals, piano, guitar, keyboards and flute, between 1996 and 2002. During this period, Campbell released two albums with the group The Gentle Waves — The Green Fields Of Foreverland… (1999) and Swansong For You (2000). The Gentle Waves was actually a project of the artist herself.
In 2003, she released her first solo album, entitled Amorino. This was followed in 2006 by Ballad of the Broken Seas, an album in partnership with Mark Lanegan, former Screaming Trees. In November of that same year, the singer released her second solo album, Milkwhite Sheets.
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan returned with a new album, Sunday at Devil Dirt, in 2008. Two years later, in 2010, the duo released Hawk. The singer released a new solo album in 2020, titled There Is No Other. Four years later, Bow To Love arrived.
