Mixing elements of dance music, shoegaze and gothic rock, Curve, the duo formed by guitarist Dean Garcia and singer Toni Halliday, released their debut album in 1992, the hypnotic Doppelganger, which brought the hits "Horror Head" and "Faît Accompli."
Dean Garcia and Toni Halliday got their start in music in the 1980s, when Garcia collaborated with another duo, Eurythmics. Also, in that decade Dean Garcia and Toni Halliday were part of a band called State of Play. In 1991, the two formed Curve. After the release of their second album, the noisy Cuckoo (1993), the duo separated, only returning in 1997, with the EP Chinese Burn. The following year, the band released the album Come Clean.
In 2001, the duo returned with their fourth album, Gift. Their fifth and final album, The New Adventures of Curve, was released in 2002. The band's end was announced in 2005, when Halliday announced his departure from Curve.
