Ian Curtis' pentagonal white guitar, immortalized in the video for “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, was sold at auction for $ 210,000 (about R$ 1,180,000.00) by Bonhams Entertainment Memorabilia.
Ian also used the guitar on a European Joy Division tour in the early 1980s, before his death.
The distinctive guitar called Vox Phantom was originally created in 1962 in England and was subsequently also manufactured in Italy.

There is a story behind the model of this guitar used by Ian Curtis. After the vocalist's death, the object stayed with his bandmate Bernard Sumner. He later gave the guitar to Johnny Marr, when they both formed the duo Electronic. Fifteen years later, Marr returned it to Sumner, who delivered the Vox Phantom to Natalie Curtis, Ian's daughter, who now put it up for auction.
