Tennis is an American indie pop band from Denver formed in 2010 by the couple Patrick Riley (guitar, keyboards) and Alaina Moore (vocals, keyboards). The two met at university and, after graduation, bought a sailboat and spent seven months sailing the east coast.
After the expedition, which served as the expiration date for their first songs, Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore formed the band. In July 2010, the first EP, Baltimore, was released on the Underwater Peoples label. Subsequently, the duo recorded their first album, Cape Dory, which arrived in January 2011 on the Fat Possum Records label.
Already as a trio, with the road of drummer James Barone, Tennis released in February 2012 the second album, Young & Old, produced by Patrick Carney, member of The Black Keys. A new work, entitled Ritual in Repeat, came out in 2014. The band released their fourth album, Yours Conditionally, in 2017. Later that year, the EP We Can Die Happy arrived. In 2020, the duo released Swimmer. Following that came Pollen in 2023.
