If ever a band had the ability to put the arrogance of its leaders above the importance of its music, it was Oasis. But even though the two brothers' behavioral attitudes were always highlighted in the media, such as unfriendly statements about other groups, fights and member changes, Oasis can at any time be mentioned as the band that created some of the most remarkable songs of British rock in the 1990s.
Brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher formed the group in the early 1990s, in Manchester. Before that, Noel had worked as a roadie for Inspiral Carpets.
In 1993, during a performance in a bar in the city of Glasgow (Scotland), Alan McGee, creator of the now defunct Creation label, discovered the band. It is worth remembering that McGee introduced names such as Jesus And Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and Teenage Fanclub to the world.
Oasis signed a contract with Creation, which in 1994 released the successful debut album, Definitely Maybe. The success of the first album led the band to internal disputes and disputes with other groups, including fellow countryman Blur.
Despite all the conflicts created, Oasis released their second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory, in 1995. This album produced the hits "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova".
After the success of their first two albums, the band proved to have found the right formula for their music and for finding space in the media. The band released several albums, but without the same impact as the first two. Still in the 1990s, Oasis released the albums Be Here Now (1997) and The Masterplan (1998), a compilation of b-sides.
In the first decade of the 2000s, the band produced the following albums: Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000), Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008). In August 2009, in a statement on the band's website, Noel Gallagher announced his departure from the band due to disagreements with his brother. Rumors soon emerged that the band was about to break up. Liam Gallagher formed the band Beady Eye, and Noel Gallagher formed a solo project called Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
