Kate Marie Nash was born in Dublin, Ireland, on July 6, 1987. However, she moved to London when she was still a child. Kate Nash learned to play the piano and guitar. In 2006, she began uploading her first compositions to the website MySpace, where she began to gain fans with her indie pop, including singer Lily Allen.
Her first record was a 7" vinyl single with the song "Caroline's a Victim", released in 2007 by the Moshi Moshi Records label. In 2007, through Polydor, Kate Nash released the single "Foundations", which ended up becoming a big hit, reaching No. 2 on the English charts.
The singer also participated in the main European festivals in 2007. At the same festival, the singer released her first album, entitled Made of Bricks.
Produced by Bernard Butler (guitarist of Suede), My Best Friend Is You, the second album came out in 2010. In 2013, she released Girl Talk, an album with influences of punk and indie rock. Her fourth album, Yesterday Was Forever, came out in 2018, released independently and financed through crowdfunding.
In 2024, Nash returned with 9 Sad Symphonies.
