American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Julia Holter, from Los Angeles, emerged in the early 2010s with her music that moves between indie and avant-garde influences. The artist released her debut album, Tragedy, in 2011 on the Leaving Records label.
Ekstasis, her second album, came out in March 2012 on the RVNG Intl. label. Ekstasis brought more visibility to Julia Holter, whose work was compared to artists such as Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, Stereolab, Julianna Barwick, Joanna Newsom and Grouper.
In 2013, she released Loud City Song, a critically acclaimed album. Then, in 2015, Have You in My Wilderness came out. Julia Holter released In the Same Room in 2017, an album recorded live in the studio, composed of some songs released on her albums. A new studio album arrived in 2018, when the singer released Aviary.
The singer returned in 2024 with a new studio work, Something in the Room She Moves.
