Leslie Feist was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, a Canadian province. Since the age of 15, she has been involved in the world of pop music. Already living in the city of Calgary, Feist was the lead singer of a punk band called Placebo, which was not British. In 1998, already living in Toronto, she became guitarist for the band By Divine Right. The following year she released her first solo album, Monarch (Lay Down Your Jeweled Head).
In 2000, she began playing with Peaches, who were releasing their debut album, Teaches of Peaches.
Feist later joined Broken Social Scene, during the recording of the group's second album, You Forgot It In People. In 2004, the singer released her second album, Let It Die, recorded in Paris between 2002 and 2003.
The Reminder, the third album, was released in 2007. From this album came two successful singles, "My Moon My Man" and "1234", which led the album to be the best-selling album of the year on iTunes.
In October 2011, Feist released the album Metals. Pleasure, the fifth, was released in 2017. Multitudes arrived in 2023.
