"Krautrock – The rebirth of Germany" is a 2009 documentary produced by BBC Four that portrays the German generation that sought a new musical identity still in the aftermath of the Second World War. The film shows the origin of bands like Neu!, Can, Faust and Kraftwerk.
The curious thing is that Krautrock was the name pejoratively given by the English music press to the movement, something that meant sauerkraut rock (a reference to the traditional German dish). Time has shown Krautrock's great influence on modern pop music and the term has come to have a revered and positive meaning.
