Show do Death From Above 1979 no SXSW termina em violência

O concerto "secreto" do Death From Above 1979 no festival South by Southwest, em Austin, no Texas, foi marcado por cenas de violência entre espetadores e policiais. 

De acordo com a Spinner, tudo começou quando numerosos fãs tentaram entrar na pequena sala onde a banda atuou. A princípio, o vocalista e baterista Sebastien Grainger não percebeu o confronto entre espectadores e policiais, acolhendo a chegada dos admiradores com um "bem-vindos à festa!". 
 
Cerca da 01h30 da manhã, quando o Death From Above 1979 tocava há 20 minutos, centenas de pessoas à porta da sala começaram a agitar-se, batendo com os pulsos na barreira de metal, ao som da música. Os agentes da polícia presentes no local tentaram conter a agitação, mas a barreira acabou por ceder e os fãs entraram correndo na sala, envolvendo-se em confrontos com a polícia. 
 
Quando percebeu a situação, a banda parou de tocar e tentou apelar à calma. Ainda segundo a Spinner, com a chegada da cavalaria novas cenas de violência ocorreram, tendo os polícias usado gás e armas não letais para imobilizar os espectadores. A sala foi evacuada no fim do concerto para evitar mais confrontos. (Blitz)
