Mark Lanegan's 2004 album Bubblegum will be re-released in a deluxe edition titled Bubblegum XX on CD and vinyl formats.
The vinyl version consists of a four-LP box set and a 64-page hardcover book with photographs, studio notes and essays by Josh Homme, Troy Van Leewuen, Alain Johannes, Greg Dulli, Duff McKagan, among others.
The box brings together the remastered double album, the EP Here Comes That Weird Chill (2003) with bonus tracks and an LP with demos and unreleased tracks, originating from Bubblegum sessions and recordings produced and mixed by Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age ) in various hotel rooms with Lanegan singing and Troy playing all the instruments. Among the rarities found in this box is “Union Turnpike”, a track in collaboration with Beck.
Bubblegum was released in 2004, a time when Lanegan was a member of Queens of the Stone Age. Bandmates Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri and Troy Van Leeuwen were some of the collaborators, alongside Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin (members of the original lineup). of Guns N' Roses), Greg Dulli (The Afghan Whigs). The album also featured contributions from English singer PJ Harvey on the tracks "Hit The City" and "Come To Me".
Mark Lanegan passed away in February 2022.
Bubblegum XX will be released on August 23rd.
