In 1990, the then fledgling British band Saint Etienne transformed Neil Young's melancholy “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” into a dance floor song, a kind of dancing indie song. Remember, the vocals on the cover are by singer Moira Lambert. Sarah Cracknell later joined the band.

Neil Young released "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" on his third album, After the Gold Rush (1970). It is speculated that Young wrote the song for singer Graham Nash, after Nash's separation from singer Joni Mitchell.
