My Bloody Valentine

One of the main representatives of the shoegazing movement, My Bloody Valentine was formed in Dublin in 1984, by Kevin Shields [vocals / guitar] and Colm O'Ciosoig [drums]. Their lineup was expanded with Dave Conway [vocals] and Tina [keyboards]. The group traveled to Berlin, where they recorded the mini-album This Is Your Bloody Valentine, released in 1985 on the Tycoon records label. The album received little attention and in the same year, the band moved to London. Tina left and bassist Debbie Googe joined the band.

In early 1986, the band released the EP Geek!. In the same year the EP The New Record by My Bloody Valentine came out, which showed influences of Jesus & Mary Chain. The following year came out Eps Sunny Sundae Smile, Strawberry Wine and Ecstasy, the three on the Lazy Records label, and You Made Me Realise, the band's first record on Creation Records. Still in 1987, Dave Conway left the band, being replaced by vocalist / guitarist Bilinda Butcher.

Isn't Anything, the first official album of My Bloody Valentine came out in 1988, being received with enthusiasm by the British critic. In early 1989, the band started working on the second album. However, the album took two years to complete. Loveless was released in November 1991. The album, which influenced bands like Radiohead, featured the songs "Only Shallow", "Sometimes" and "Soon". Even with the band's acclaim, Loveless did not sell enough to cover production costs. Creation Records is estimated to have spent $ 500,000.00 on the album.

In 1992, the band signed to Island Records and entered the studio to record their third album. However, this expected album did not come out.

In 2007, Shields announced that the group was meeting to record new material. The following year, My Bloody Valentine returned to perform some shows, performing mainly at festivals such as Roskilde Festival (Denmark), Benicàssim (Spain), Fuji Rock Festival (Japan) and All Tomorrow's Parties (USA).

The long-awaited third album only came out on February 2, 2013, when the band released it under the title m b v through the official website.
