Emicida

Rapper and producer Emicida was one of the biggest revelations of Brazilian hip hop in the first decade of the 2000s. Born in the city of São Paulo on August 17, 1985 as Leandro Roque de Oliveira, the artist had contact with music from an early age. His parents organized black dances in the outskirts of the city, and he began using sound equipment.

He began to attract attention in the well-known MC battles with his improvised rhymes. From 2005 onwards, he began to record his songs independently. The name Emicida came from the fusion of the words "MC" and "homicida". Because of his victories in the improvisation battles, his friends said that the rapper "killed" his opponents through his rhymes. Later, Emicida also became the acronym for "Enquanto Minha Imaginação Compor Insanidades Domino a Arte".

In 2008, the rapper released his first single, entitled "Triunfo". Starting in 2009, the artist began releasing his music in EP and mixtape formats. Pra quem já Mordeu um Cachorro por Comida, até que eu Cheguei Longe.., a mixtape released in 2009, brings together 25 tracks that were recorded since the beginning of his career.

In early 2010, the EP Sua Mina Ouve Meu Rep Tamém was released. Also that year, the second mixtape, Emicídio, was released. The following year, Emicida released the album Doozicabraba e a Revolução Silenciosa, which was among the best of 2011 by Rolling Stone Brazil magazine.

Considered his first studio album, O Glorioso Retorno de Quem Nunca Esteve Aqui was released in 2013, featuring guest appearances by Rael da Rima ("Levanta e Anda"), Tulipa Ruiz ("Sol de Giz de Cera"), Pitty ("Hoje Cedo"), among others. In 2019, the artist released AmaRelo.
