American singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe emerged in the early 2010s with her experimental and nebulous music, rooted in musical genres such as folk, metal, gothic, electronics and indie rock.
She, who grew up in Sacramento, California, and later settled in Los Angeles, released an album on CD in 2006, entitled Mistake in Parting, which she called "embarrassingly bad". However, his first official album, The Grime and The Glow, came out in 2010. Then, in 2011, Apokalypsis came out, an album that received favorable reviews from publications such as Pitchfork and CMJ.
In 2012, Chelsea Wolfe released Unknown Rooms: A Collection of Acoustic Songs, an album more focused on Folk music. Her fourth album, Pain Is Beauty, released in September 2013, brought more visibility to her name on the independent scene.
The singer returned with a new album, Abyss, in 2015. In 2017, she released Hiss Spun, an album that has collaborations with Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age) and Aaron Turner (Isis). Birth of Violence, a new album influenced by folk music, arrived in 2019. Produced by Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio), her seventh album, She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She, arrived in 2024.
