Eels is an American alternative rock band formed by vocalist and songwriter Mark Oliver Everett (also known simply as E) in 1995 in Los Angeles. The group's music is classified as post-grunge and folk rock, encompassing electronic experimentation and the lyrics addressing personal matters of their leader Mark Oliver Everett, such as loneliness, death and sentimental frustrations.

From 1996, Eels released a series of albums, highlighting Electro-Shock Blues (1998).
